ErLu

Erin and Lou (aka ErLu) Cicalese are a young married couple who moved to the Bedford Park section of the Bronx a year and a half ago from Park Slope, Brooklyn. After searching all over NYC and its surrounding areas (as chronicled in The New York Times "Hunt" column), they returned to their former college stomping grounds in the Bronx. With their alma mater, Fordham University, a stone's throw away, as well as both the Botanical Garden Metro-North stop and express D train service into Midtown right down the block, Bedford Park seemed like a natural choice for their first real estate purchase.

Although the driving force behind their decision to move to Bedford Park was the relative affordability of the residential real estate, they fall deeper in love with their new neighborhood every day as they discover all its hidden treasures. Whether it be the beauty and vibrancy of the Mosholu Parkway, the impressive facilities of the recently renovated Williamsbridge Oval, the ever-changing exhibits at the Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo, or a new cafe on Arthur Avenue, there is always something new to do within walking distance. It has proved to be the perfect neighborhood for strolling with their 1 year old, Pearl.

Frustrated by the lack of media coverage for all the good things that the Bronx has to offer, and attempting to finally put to sleep the negative image and caricature of the Bronx as an urban wasteland, Boogiedowner was formed with the input of other posters on a City-data message board. Boogiedowner hopes to be the website that proclaims what we already know: the Bronx is HOT!

Hey guys... thanks so much for starting your blog. I just moved to Bedford Park three months ago and I was searching for a blog that would show the best of what the Bronx has to offer. The next step was to create my own. I would love to help so please feel free to contact me. AJay

Born, raised, educated, and still live in The Bronx, in a house probably built in 1911, in Woodlawn. Love your blog, and share it with the growing collection of friends and family who still live here or have moved back. Bravo! Brava!

I'm not from the BX but bought a co-op here because it was affordable (I was completely priced out of other areas in NYC). I really haven’t ventured too far outside of my Pelham Pky area because frankly, I didnt know where to go or what to do :-) but now I do. This blog is great!

Hey there ErLu
I love your blog.
I have been living in Riverdale for 20 years and have discovered a lot of the Bronx especially when my son played baseball in the Dominican Bronx League. Can I subscribe?
